Book
Available in bookshops elsewhere in the world, the publication enables people further afield to discover HIGH ALTITUDE
This book is conceived as a companion to the festival. It features works of contemporary imagemakers who approach the mountain in its various and multiple states: spectacular, sublime, domesticated, constructed (even artificial!), out-of-touch and frightening. Artists who live in Switzerland, Germany, United States, the Netherlands and England, many living far from a mountainous environment, celebrate and challenge deeply-rooted myths, and each in his own way tries to interpret this elusive landscape. Unspoiled nature versus the man-altered mountain – a dichotomy that has sparked the imaginations of generations of mountain lovers – will thus be interpreted by talented artists, whose visions are far removed from those of tourist postcards.
